Wet Prairie Mix

This list consists of plants that have a wetland code of either Obligate Wetland (OBL) or Facultative wetland (FACW). Obligate means that 99% of the time that plant is always found in a wetland, while with facultative, the probability is between 67% - 99%. Seed harvested from these plants will be broadcast in ditches, areas flooded in early spring, or adjacent to the lake.

Workzone Map

There are eight workzones associated with this species mix, although the actual target location may only be a small area within the workzone.

Purple Joe Pye Weed

  • Currently the planted bioswale provides the bulk of the seed harvest, particularly the sedges and blue flag iris.
  • The obedient plant populatuon in G1.1.2 produced enough seed into 2023 to target 2-3 locations.
  • Collected seed from the two wild senna plants in 2022, but did not detect them in 2023.
  • There are still only a handful of ironweed plants scattered across the prerseve. Attempt to propagate any seed.
