Workzone F4.2 Report
Updated 12/14/2023

Summary

This small workzone is so named due to the Ohio buckeye tree next to the road. Several large in pin oaks are located near the paved bike trail, plus several smaller ones which require eventual thinning. Work will begin in the spring of 2019 with the removal of several tangled honeysuckle near the road, and the planting of a hazelnut in their place. Also to be removed are the callery pears, crabapples, and autumn olives. Siberian elms will slowly be replaced. Parts are the workzone are waterlogged in the spring, suggesting some wet prairie plant may be suitable for enrichment - ironweed, spotted joy pye, common boneset.

2019-03-23 Began clearing large gnarly looking honeysuckle from workzone F4.2. They are along the road, and I was tired of them taunting me as I drove into the preserve. Possibly replace with native shrubs. Also cleared honeysuckle from east side of F4.5, mainly around small oaks.
